Dear Santa by Debbie Macomber

Blurb from Goodreads:

A special holiday wish list brings about hope, love, and second chances in this nostalgic novel from the queen of Christmas stories, #1 New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber.

Lindy Carmichael isn't feeling particularly joyful when she returns home to Wenatchee, Washington, for Christmas. The man she thought was "the one" has cheated on her with her best friend, and she feels completely devoid of creativity in her graphic-design job. Not even carolers or Christmas cookies can cheer her up--but Lindy's mother, Ellen, remembers an old tradition that might lift her daughter's spirits.

Reading through a box of childhood letters to Santa and reminiscing about what she'd wished for as a young girl may be just the inspiration Lindy needs. With Ellen's encouragement, she decides to write a new letter to Santa, one that will encourage her to have faith and believe just as she'd done all those years ago. Little does Lindy know that this exercise in gratitude will cause her wishes to unfold before her in miraculous ways. And, thanks to some fateful twists of Christmas magic--especially an unexpected connection with a handsome former classmate--Lindy ultimately realizes that there is truly no place like home for the holidays.

In Dear Santa, Debbie Macomber celebrates the joys of Christmas blessings, old and new.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was an incredible read. Debbie Macomber strikes again. This time with her new Christmas contemporary romance, Dear Santa. In this story, Lindy returns to her hometown of Wenatchee, Washington to celebrate Christmas with her family. The past year leading into the story has not been very kind to her. Her mother has her go through the old letters that she wrote to Santa to cheer up. With her mother’s encouragement, Lindy writes a new letter to Santa. She meets her former classmate who used to tease her, Billy. Billy has turned into a fine man and they begin to fall in love. Now, with her vacation coming to an end, Lindy must make a tough decision between her life in Seattle or her life in Wenatchee, Washington. This story was charming and delightful. The story of Christmas and the message of hope is beautifully written. As a fan of Debbie Macomber, I can say that this book doesn’t disappoint. You have romance, family, and Christmas all wrapped into one book. Lindy is an amazing character. I thought that her journey in this book was beautiful. You can see how Hope had changed her life when she seemed to lose it. Billy was another wonderful character. He went from being a former bully to being the love of her life. He is truly a wonderful character and watching the romance bloom between him and Lindy was beautiful to see. The ending was the best part and I thought that Lindy made the perfect choice. I recommend this book to anyone who loves charming and uplifting reads about hope, Christmas and love. Overall, an amazing read.
