Dear Santa by Debbie Macomber

Blurb from Goodreads:

A special holiday wish list brings about hope, love, and second chances in this nostalgic novel from the queen of Christmas stories, #1 New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber.

Lindy Carmichael isn't feeling particularly joyful when she returns home to Wenatchee, Washington, for Christmas. The man she thought was "the one" has cheated on her with her best friend, and she feels completely devoid of creativity in her graphic-design job. Not even carolers or Christmas cookies can cheer her up--but Lindy's mother, Ellen, remembers an old tradition that might lift her daughter's spirits.

Reading through a box of childhood letters to Santa and reminiscing about what she'd wished for as a young girl may be just the inspiration Lindy needs. With Ellen's encouragement, she decides to write a new letter to Santa, one that will encourage her to have faith and believe just as she'd done all those years ago. Little does Lindy know that this exercise in gratitude will cause her wishes to unfold before her in miraculous ways. And, thanks to some fateful twists of Christmas magic--especially an unexpected connection with a handsome former classmate--Lindy ultimately realizes that there is truly no place like home for the holidays.

In Dear Santa, Debbie Macomber celebrates the joys of Christmas blessings, old and new.

This was an incredible read. Debbie Macomber strikes again. This time with her new Christmas contemporary romance, Dear Santa. In this story, Lindy returns to her hometown of Wenatchee, Washington to celebrate Christmas with her family. The past year leading into the story has not been very kind to her. Her mother has her go through the old letters that she wrote to Santa to cheer up. With her mother’s encouragement, Lindy writes a new letter to Santa. She meets her former classmate who used to tease her, Billy. Billy has turned into a fine man and they begin to fall in love. Now, with her vacation coming to an end, Lindy must make a tough decision between her life in Seattle or her life in Wenatchee, Washington. This story was charming and delightful. The story of Christmas and the message of hope is beautifully written. As a fan of Debbie Macomber, I can say that this book doesn’t disappoint. You have romance, family, and Christmas all wrapped into one book. Lindy is an amazing character. I thought that her journey in this book was beautiful. You can see how Hope had changed her life when she seemed to lose it. Billy was another wonderful character. He went from being a former bully to being the love of her life. He is truly a wonderful character and watching the romance bloom between him and Lindy was beautiful to see. The ending was the best part and I thought that Lindy made the perfect choice. I recommend this book to anyone who loves charming and uplifting reads about hope, Christmas and love. Overall, an amazing read.

Human Biology (Love 101 #2) by Lena Lucas

Blurb from Goodreads:

Control. Something I'd always had... until she walked into my life.

Curves that went on for miles. Lips pink and plump. A face that could bring a man--me--to my knees.

She was too young, too innocent.

She was mine.

Because of my position of power, being with Mary was out of the question.

Forbidden. Wrong.

I was her professor. She was my student.

I'd always prided myself on self-discipline, but Mary was my weakness, the one person I was willing to risk everything for. The one woman who I wanted to break the rules for.

So when the opportunity arose to make her mine, to claim that innocence for my own... I was never letting her go, damn the consequences.

Lena's Note: I know you like them fast and right to the point so don't worry, this one gives you all the goods with a forbidden romance trope! And it's got all the romantic filth to whet your appetite! Enjoy this good old-fashioned safe smut-fest.

This was an alright read. This is book 2 of the Love 101 series. The story is a student-teacher romance. The story is a romance between Logan, the teacher, and Mary, the student. I thought the story was quite boring. It was not like most of the student-teacher books that I have read. The characters were good. I liked them, but I wished the story could have been longer so that I got to see what happened between them. Logan DeLuca is a Human Anatomy professor, and he instantly becomes infatuated with Mary. I would describe him as smart, sexy and protective. Mary is a student in his class and is also infatuated with him. I would describe her as witty and smart. The ending seemed a bit rushed. I wanted more content on what happened, and their happily ever after. I cannot wait to read the other books in the Love 101 series even though they are really short. Overall, an okay read.

Part of Your World (Twisted Tales #5) by Liz Braswell

Blurb from Goodreads:

What if Ariel had never defeated Ursula?

Five years after the (twisted) events of the film, Ariel is now the queen of Atlantica, and Ursula is running Eric's kingdom on land. But when the sea witch threatens Atlantica once more, Ariel finds herself returning to a world (and a prince) she thought she'd left behind forever.

This was an alright read. This retelling of The Little Mermaid was good, but I think the original story was much better. In this retelling, the story takes place after the events of The Little Mermaid, but Ariel didn’t defeat Ursula. To me, that sounded interesting, and I thought let’s give it a go. The book was a bit boring because the pace was slow in the beginning. The characters were good. I loved getting to see these old Disney characters being brought back to life in fairy tale retellings because it means we can explore different possibilities with them. The ending quarter was the best part of the book for me. I can't wait to read the other books in the series. Five done, and seven more to go. Overall, an okay read.

Oral Communication (Love 101 #5) by Winter Travers

Blurb from Goodreads:

Communications Professor Aiden Halifax is as strait-laced as they come. A firm believer that rules are meant to be followed, not broken.

Tattoos and suits collide when this quiet Professor comes face to face with his new TA. Not only is Win Grant covered in more ink than a ten page term paper, she's too mouthy and sassy for her own good.

Terrible first impressions and unexplainable chemistry leave both Aiden and Win feeling perplexed.

Sometimes all you need to do is a little communicating.

Some oral communicating.

This was an alright read. This is book 5 of the Love 101 series. The story is a student-teacher romance. The story is a romance between Aiden, the teacher, and Win, the teacher’s assistant. I thought the story was quite boring. It was not like most of the student-teacher books that I have read. The characters were good. I liked them, but I wished the story could have been longer so that I got to see what happened between the last two chapters. Aiden is a 28-year-old Communications Professor. I would describe him as sexy, smart and strait-laced. Win is a 26-year-old grad student who works as Aiden’s Communications Teacher’s Assistant. I would describe her as spunky, smart and witty. Their chemistry together was good as well. The ending seemed a bit rushed. I wanted more content on what happened, and their happily ever after. I cannot wait to read the other books in the Love 101 series even though they are really short. Overall, an okay read.

Strip Me Down by Natalie Clarke

Blurb from Goodreads:

Quinn

Whoever penned the phrase ‘when life gives you lemons, make lemonade’, has clearly never been in my situation. Nineteen years-old and on the brink of eviction, I needed to make money fast.
Stripping for a room full of men was never part of the plan, but then neither was falling for him...
He found me when I was at my lowest. He rooted himself into my life and added my pain on top of his own.
I wasn’t supposed to fall for him, but how can something that feels so right be so wrong?
Because here’s the problem…
He’s my professor.

Dwight

Don't get involved with students.
That's the first thing they tell you when you take this job, and I had no intention to, until I met her...
I shouldn't want her, I shouldn’t notice the things I do about her, but for the first time since losing my wife three years ago, one look at her, and it was as if I could finally breathe again.
I need to stay away. She doesn't need a guy like me in her life, dragging her down with my baggage, but I don’t think I’m strong enough to resist.
She's under my skin.
And as it turns out, I need her just as much as she needs me.

Strip Me Down is a new standalone Professor/Student Romance with a HEA.

**Intended for readers 18+ due to sexual content and possible triggers. This book features some scenes and references to sexual violence and so could be sensitive to some readers.**

This was an enjoyable read. This story was about the relationship between Dwight Evans (the professor) and Quinn Taylor (the student). I really enjoyed the story about how two broken people found love and solace in each other. I know it is a student-teacher relationship, but the love that the hero and heroine share is beautiful. Quinn lost her parents a year before their story began, and Dwight lost his wife 3 years prior. Quinn is a struggling student who has to work two jobs to take care of her expenses, she is smart, determined and stubborn. She never gives up, and I really liked her. Dwight is a professor who fell for the wrong person…his student…he did whatever he could to protect her. I thought he was smart, sexy, and protective. Their romance was beautifully written and I want to see them have another book for their married life with kids. Also, I would like to know more about Dwight’s sister, Victoria (Tori) and her daughter, Elysia Lynn (Lissy). Now, I just need to finish Logan and Amy’s story. Overall, a great read.

The Devil's Smile (Sin Students #1) by Jennie Blake

Blurb from Goodreads:

She opened the door slowly, almost hesitantly, hopeful that he'd be alone. If he wasn't then she would have to come up with another excuse and go back to whatever it was she did when she wasn't in lessons or with him. She had some time to kill, and she knew exactly how she wanted to do it.

He was alone, and she smiled, more to herself than to him because his back was to her. The office wasn't particularly large; it was shared by him and four others, so desks were placed in whatever space they could fit in, his being right next to the door. He didn't turn around when the door opened, because he was fairly positive of whom it was going to be - she always opened the door like that. That, and he liked playing that he wasn't into it. At first he did anyway, but soon his will power would wear out. He'd discovered long ago that his will was pretty weak.

She closed the door behind her, twisting the lock. Of course, it wouldn't stop any of the several people who had a key if they wished to get in, but the noise of the door being unlocked would give the two of them time to pull away and act like nothing was going on. The door locked with the two of them inside? Surely, it must be faulty, must have locked somehow when the door was pulled to. Why not?

She stood behind his chair, not saying a word. Instead she put her bag on the floor and took off her jacket. The sound of her movements was stirring something within him, and it took a considerable amount of effort not to turn around.

"Another free period?" He asked casually, trying to concentrate on the assignment he was marking, to little avail.

"You know I have." She replied, her voice soft and laced with the typical tease that he had come to love so much.

She was right; he knew full well that she didn't have anywhere to be. He had her sixth-form timetable memorised in some corner of his mind, so that wherever he might be in the building, he always knew where she was as well. He'd told her to come down to the office every time she had nowhere to be, so that they could spend as much time together as possible. Although in all honesty, the times where he had a free period at the same time she did were few and far between. Twice a week. And between his duties as a teacher and hers as a senior student, they often couldn't get more than a few minutes together at most.

"How long do you have?" He asked her, putting his pen down.

"As long as you want."

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was an alright read. This was a student-teacher relationship story, but it was not as engaging as some of the other student-teacher books that I have read. I thought the story was a bit boring, and I had to put it down. I thought the main characters were okay. I did not love or dislike them. I thought that the hero was a bit of a jerk at times, and it really annoyed me. The heroine was a bit naive as well, and that also annoyed me. I thought that they could have been better development of the characters to make the story stand out. The ending was a bit abrupt in my opinion. Overall, an okay read.

After Class (Office Hours #3) by Kayla Wren

Blurb from Goodreads:

Everything in my life is an experiment. Something to study.

Even this—my attraction to the psychology professor.

I’ve never had a crush before. Never wanted a man so badly my stomach aches. But here I am at 22, with long-dormant parts of me coming alive.

The professor is dry. Distant. Difficult to read. And though we move in the same circles, he still keeps me at arm’s length.

That won’t do. Not when I have all these new sensations, new desires to study in myself.

He’s always saying we should seek knowledge.

Well, I’m about to know him.

After Class is a steamy professor-student romance and the third book in the Office Hours trilogy. Contains mature language and content.

After Class (Office Hours, #3)After Class by Kayla Wren
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was an enjoyable read. It was the student-teacher relationship between Professor Fraser Drummond and his student, Raine. I thought it was a cute and quick read. I thought the story could have been longer to get more of a story about the moments after they got together to make it a happier ending. The characters were great. Fraser was a bit more mysterious than Gideon and Beckett. He used to be a psychology professor but then changed to be a guidance counsellor. He is bothered by something in his past, and I wished it was explored more. He is aloof, mysterious, and smart. Raine is an undergrad psychology student, who likes to sew different designs. She is unable to feel attraction and wonders why that is. That is until Professor Fraser Drummond entered the picture. She is sassy, smart and I would say a bit awkward as well. I thought their chemistry together was great. I thought the ending was cute. I just wish there was more. Overall, a great read.

Bonus Study (Office Hours #2) by Kayla Wren

Blurb from Goodreads:

She’s the best thing I’ve ever seen. A walking miracle.

The only catch? She’s my student.

I cut my best friend off for dating his student, but the truth is I’m no better. Keeley has been in my class for years, and I’ve been in love with her just as long.

I won’t go there. I’m no monster. I will never cross that line.

But it kills me to see the other students laugh at her. They don’t see her talent, her beauty, the way I do. Bunch of fools. And when Keeley’s class partner bails on her, she’s left high and dry.

So I’ll fill in. I can do this. I can keep things innocent.

Even when it means spending long nights on campus with her alone.

Bonus Study is a steamy professor-student romance and the second book in the Office Hours trilogy. Contains mature language and content.

This was an enjoyable read. It was the student-teacher relationship between Professor Beckett Hale and his student, Keeley. I thought it was a cute and quick read. I thought the story could have been longer to get more of a story about the moments after they got together to make it a happier ending. The characters were great. Beckett is a professor in the Sports Sciences Department, and I thought he was smart, sexy, and a bit of a jerk at times. Keeley is the top female student in the male dominated Department of Sports Sciences. She is joyful, smart and humble. She works hard to maintain her high grades and she always puts her best effort forward. She is also sassy, which is a quality that I love. I thought their chemistry together was great. He tried so hard to do the right thing and stay away from her until he could no longer hold back his feelings for her. I wonder how Fraser and Raine’s story will turn out. Can’t wait to read the next book. Overall, a great read.
